Water of Life Mosaic Crucifix
This unique Crucifix, hanging in St. Patrick’s Church, McCook, Nebraska, is an artwork in several media. On a carved wooden cross, the resin sculpture of Jesus hangs, with mosaic inlays down the front of the cross and above the head of Christ. The inlaid blue glass mosaic symbolizes the water that flowed from Christ’s side, becoming the water of our Baptism. Red glass fragments highlight the blue stream representing the Blood of Christ. Above the head of Jesus is a circle of radiating white, gold and variegated glass fragments, representing the Eucharist - the Bread of Life which Jesus became for us.
