For the second year, Sioux Falls welcomes over 40 sculptures to downtown Sioux Falls! The sculptures were installed the weekend of May 20 and 21, and are on view for a pleasant summer evening of viewing public art. Also be sure to visit the sculptures that are now the property of the City of Sioux Falls -- most courtesy of generous community donations.
Coming Home, a goose in the reeds sculpted by Lynn Peterson of Viborg, was the People's Favorite of 2004 and was purchased by the City. It can be found along with many other geese along the new Phillips to the Falls extension.
In front of the Visitor's Tower in Falls Park, you will find American Farmer sculpted by Sondra Jonson of Cambridge, Nebraska. American Farmer was awarded Best of Show in 2004 and was purchased and donated to the City by First National Bank of Sioux Falls.
You will find Bacchus, sculpted by Sherri Treeby of Aberdeen, seated on the Fountain Plaza at 9th and Phillips downtown. This piece was purchased by Main Street Sioux Falls and donated to the City.
Bold Eagle by Jurek Jakowicz of Sioux Falls was purchased by 3 businesses and donated to the City. It will remain in front of the Carnegie Town Hall.
And finally, a second copy of World on a Pedestal, created by Jim Mailander of Wiota, Iowa, was commissioned by TSP and the SculptureWalk group, and will be donated to the City and placed in front of City Hall at 9th and Dakota.
